Tayside Orthodontic MCN<Newsletters>

The Tayside Society for the Study of Orthodontics is the educational forum where General Dental Practitioners, Specialist Orthodontists, Hospital Consultants, dentists in specialist training and dentists in general professional training meet. There are four educational meetings each year and the fifth meeting is reserved for the annual general meeting. The TSSO is largely supported by 3M-Unitek and membership subscription.

The educational meetings follow a similar format, where a speaker with an expert knowledge of a particular aspect of orthodontics is invited to make a clinically orientated presentation to the group and lead a discussion afterwards.

The TSSO has been in existence since 27 April 1970 when "a meeting of those dental surgeons interested in the formation of an orthodontic study group " met in the Dundee University Tower Building. Over the years, the format of meetings has remained fairly constant. There has been a wide range of local and internationally renowned speakers including among others Hans Eirew, Richard Parkhouse, Andrew Richardson, Harry Orton, David Birnie, Raman Bedi, JRE Mills and Philip Adams.
